GreyPowerVan posted:Thanks for the heads up, just bought two copies as gifts for friends. Not that I am aware of unfortunately. Your best bet may be to go to the Taleworlds forums and check each mod there, as it probably is the most concise listing of mods that also have FAQs and such. Spent a good afternoon trying to get Floris to work before I realized it wasn't compatible with the latest version, bah.

Moist Missle posted:I'm currently playing this as well, it's pretty neat! One of the features is you can go up to any lord and enlist in their army as a levy of their nation and follow them around, fighting in their battles and going up the normal soldier ranks. It's a nice change of pace just being a soldier and not the leader. If you like this kind of play, you can actually find several mods with it also included. The mod itself is called freelancer, and off the top of my head I can recall it being in Aco*k, the Floris mod pack, and 1257 AD. It's honestly my favorite way to level up a new character nowadays.

I honestly haven't played it too recently. The problem with large and varied single player mods is that there is so much that I tend to lose focus in it, and get bored quickly. I find native and native+ mods like diplomacy or Floris to be my favorite. I did appreciate the switch to Tortoise SVN though. With what I do remember is that I really enjoyed the heavily wooded battle maps that it added.

Are those the With fire and sword developers? I've heard similar stories about them during that production as well.

Running as a recently deceased lineman from the Empire, apparently no one wants to hang out with you when you are all bones Also, fighting night goblins looks somewhat hilariously as if you are attacking children in Halloween masks, I love it.

A science fiction setting seems simply too far out of reach for most. I think it simply requires too much to make it worthwhile. Even standout stuff like the starwars mod for the original mount and blade still had its issues.

Furthermore, balance discussions seem to be implying that there was a baseline of balance to judge the warhammer mod against. Even the base game had significant issues, particularly with the Rhodok faction. I think taking balance into account is a difficult means to rate a mod for warband.

Men at arms are what you're looking for I think, the nasty little ones that can dodge around my nice big clobbering poleaxe Both games have cool systems of combat, I'm not sure how well chivalry's would hold up in fights as large as those in M&B's singleplayer though. |

Those are pretty understandable modifications when many fights in native could be easily solved by having a high athletics score, sprinting backwards, and swinging down. I don't particularly like them either as they make fighting pretty clumsy last time I used it, but I understand why they added the options in.

| I always had the best luck treating cavalry exactly as I do in the total war series. Group them up, charge in, spam commands madly to disengage, and repeat. It works if the cavalry are sent at an edge with a clear exit point, and the command system decides to work. Good but of luck actually. | I thought it was going to be in the timeline of the original games. Odd that they've gone into the realms of historical fantasy instead. |

I thought nw was a pretty cool upgrade over the free stuff. I appreciate tale world's throwing a bone to mod developers they think can handle a full product. Of the three dlcs so far I think it's been the best, mostly due to the focused scope of it.

I've seen it entirely eaten up by nords that majority of the time I play long games and dont focus in that area. Im not sure how off screen siege warfare is calculated, but it makes sense considering the grossness of the Huscarl.

Joined one of the leaders as a mercenary clan. Got into a large fight with the regular army on an open field, and was given division command over archers. The leader sent me commands as the rest of the divisions manuevered around. Ended up skirmishing quite bit before falling behind the infantry line. It felt ridiculously more interesting compared to warbands circle in a line until one end connects with the other nonsense. Game is good?

Archers seem fairly over the top in power at the moment. If half of your force are imperial peasant archers you can overcome other faction forces that have twice your numbers. Dont sleep on them! Frankly it might even be too strong, I need to try getting some of those longbowmen from the fantasy saxons. Also, I executed the lord of the sturgians. It was a good time, having the faction leaders be changeable leaves me hopeful that you can actually take over them yourself. And with the clans and policies, perhaps civil wars can happen to? Anything that might break up a kingdom that starts growing too large would be excellent.
