Mount and Blade: Bannerlord (2024)

I’m ruler of the Northern Empire. Happened by accident, Lucon died before I could stab him in the back(we were best friends, married his daughter too).

Wiped out Sturgia and the Western Empjre so far. Was close to getting the Khuzaits but Vlandia declared war so I made peace, map too big for all that and my own fiefs are in the west. Vlandia was a super power and I crushed them under heel. Whole time the Southern Empire and the Khuzaits are taking turns taking one city, idiots.

Vlandia offers peace, took it as we’re getting thin. Lord’s parties are all low on troops. Then here comes the Aserai declaring on us. These desert losers that have done nothing but get two cities taken from them all campaign. Should be easy right? WRONG.

These morons have to travel past the entirety of Southern Empire, and their own cities taken by the Khuzaits to get to me. They don’t care. They’ve been playing possum on us all.

TWO 2000 plus armies besieging my heartland cities. Say crap and call the banners that are still weak out west. Think lemme pick off this smaller army with my party. Tell me why their entire army was Mamluke whatever the damn. They had more cavalry than Vlandia ever fielded against me. Damn Javelins almost killed me.

Barely win, limp to go help out a siege. No way these massive armies are elite too? Wrong again. They swarm the walls with their stupid golden armor and shields. My legionairres and catas stand by me as they stupidly somehow climb a ladder while also shielding themselves. The relief when one of the big idiots with an axe comes up and I can bonk them freely.

We killed over a thousand but I go down. My men haven’t seen that happen in over a decade, they despair and get slaughtered. The city falls, my lords are licking wounds in the west, the ruler is in chains for the first time since he was a mercenary upstart just trying to sleep with the Emperor’s daughter.

They’re rampaging through my beautiful central cities that have never seen war. But they don’t know I never wanted the Empire. I planned to conquer the lands then give up the throne to kill all of these petty lords and have every town under my own banner. They see a benevolent ruler who hasn’t touched a village and shows mercy to every conquered city, who builds fairgrounds and throws parties for the peasants in every city. Who even my enemies have good relations with.

They think me weak and soft. That I’ll just pay for peace when I’m free. They think I just want the same old status quo. Thousands of peasants die in terror, but we let the lords go free? I’ve just been playing along with these games for the long term.

When I’m free I’ll call my remaining banners and go south. Every villager dead, every village raided, every lord executed, every city devastated. Every grain of sand soaked in blood. They’ll conquer my Empire only to come home to ash.

If I fall, my son will avenge me. I left him and his mother in the northern most city of Sturgia. He’s only ever trained in the blade. Don’t even think the lad can read and he’s 16. He’s the only person I’ve told my plans of betrayal to. If Calradia doesn’t accept my benevolent rule, false though it was, they will come to regret it as he murders everyone he comes across, lord or no.

Oh and I have a daughter somewhere too. Think I told her to learn medicine, I’m sure she’ll help.

Make it make sense, TaleWorlds. Why would I wear something, clearly distinguish to be meant for ceremony, into battle?

And I'm playing on console so there's no mod fix for me.

Don't care if it's a setting, a build or a mod. I'm starting to lose interest in the game entirely because of how sh*t the combat is on foot. There's nothing you can do to stop 3-4 of the AI just ignoring everyone else and ganking you with shields and one-handed spam.

Maybe it's the game being janky, maybe it's a blatant misunderstanding of the combat mechanics, either way it's pissing me off and I'm getting tired of it. I just wanna have fun ffs without having to spend 100 hours learning the janky ass combat system.

So how do I just fix it the lazy way because sieges are dogsh*t and it's killing all my motivation to go near the game.
